ORLANDO PIRATES’ GILBERTO SCORES AGAINST GETAFE
In what is the Sea Robbers‘ third pre-season friendly game in Spain, the new Angolan forward found the net this evening. Gilberto made his first appearance against Sevilla on Monday with a few confident touches and take-ons that endeared him to Orlando Pirates supporters.

With 20 minutes gone in his second game against Granada, the Angolan struck his first Orlando Pirates goal to give his team the lead, before the Spaniards equalised a minute later before the match ended level.

JOSEPH MAKHANYA TO STAY?
Former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns forward Thabiso Kutumela has found himself in KwaZulu Natal for the second time in his career.

The Dobsonville-born Makhanya completed his CAF B Diploma in coaching last week. Is he set to continue with the Orlando Pirates reserve team next season?

“I’m still to find out,” Makhanya said via iDiski Times.

“But from where I’m standing, I’d like to believe that I’ll still continue as the DDC coach which is something that I’m looking forward to up until we produce more Rele’s because, at the end of the day the platform that I have been given is to make sure that there are more Rele’s coming,” the Orlando Pirates legend added.

“So, I’m hoping that maybe there are still players that are hungry and my job is not to give them talent but to make sure that they are at least better polished, maybe half cooked for the first team because the only time that they will get ready is when they are given the platform.

“So I’d like to believe that if they are to look at Rele or they are to look at maybe some of the players that have graduated from the DDC it means there is hunger. And if they can maintain the hunger and their talent is nurtured properly then we can get more Reles which is something that we strive for,” the former winger added.
