The Kansas City Chiefs dropped their final preseason game to the Chicago Bears on Thursday night 34-21. The Chiefs end the preseason 0-3. For the most part, Kansas City made it through this game and most of the preseason unscathed injury-wise. The reigning two-time defending champions did have an injury scare in the first quarter, though, when left tackle Wanya Morris exited the game and did not return. Following the game, coach Andy Reid provided an injury update on Morris. “Really, there’s not much on the injury front for you,” Reid began. “Wanya was the primary one. He just kind of tweaked that knee a little bit but other than that, we came out pretty clean. “He’s going to be OK – we’re just going to give him some time here to rest up and go. Offense Struggles in 34-21 Preseason Finale Loss to Bears Clearly having someone to protect quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ blindside is important. The Chiefs also selected Kingsley Suamataia in the second round out of BYU to also shore up that position just in case. Morris started four games as a rookie last season for the Chiefs. The Oklahoma product will likely be the starter at left tackle when the season opens on Sept. 5 against the Baltimore Ravens.

Kansas City Chiefs make move that Patrick Mahomes will love ahead of historic season
The Kansas City Chiefs have secured starting center Creed Humphrey to a massive contract extension, ensuring he’ll continue to protect Patrick Mahomes for the foreseeable future with the team looking to become the first to win three consecutive Super Bowl’s.
Humphrey, arguably the best player in his position in the league, will carry on snapping the ball for Mahomes for the next four years after signing a £54million ($72m) deal that will see him pocket £13m ($18m) per season – making him the highest-paid player at his position in the league.
Humphrey has earned Pro Bowl honours for the past two seasons and was named second-team All-Pro in 2022. He’s never missed a game in his career since the Chiefs picked him in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
With these three players, Kansas City arguably boasts the most dominant interior offensive line in the league – keeping Mahomes upright and putting him in the best possible position to avoid big hits and potential injuries for the foreseeable future.
Kansas is hoping to allocate salary cap to Smith, who is set to become the only offensive lineman turning into a free agent next offseason. He’s expected to demand a hefty contract offer.
