It is no secret that WNBA legend Sheryl Swoopes is a big fan of Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese.

The feeling is definitely mutual. On Tuesday night, Swoopes was among the over 18,000 people in attendance at T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada to watch Reese and the Sky go up against the Las Vegas Aces. After the game, Reese hopped on social media and shared a selfie photo alongside Swoopes via Instagram Story

“TEARS, LAUGHTER, AND SMILES WITH THE GOAT TODAY WAS MUCH NEEDED,” Reese wrote in her post.

Reese had another double-double in the Aces game – her 25th of the season – as she scored 12 points and grabbed 16 boards, including a pair of offensive rebounds. Despite her big statistic night, Reese and Chicago ended up losing to the Aces, 90-71.

The Sky are now on a seven-game winless streak and are sitting precariously on the eighth spot in the WNBA standings with an 11-22 record – tied with ninth-placer Atlanta Dream. With just one more playoff spot up for grabs in the 2024 WNBA season, the Sky can’t afford to continue their losing ways. They will look to turn things around on September 6 when they host the Los Angeles Sparks.

Sheryl Swoopes Addresses Accusations That She ‘Hates’ Caitlin Clark

WNBA legend Sheryl Swoopes and Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark have been connected for quite some time.

Swoopes has been talking about Clark on her “Queens of the Court” podcast throughout the Fever guard’s rookie season. The four-time WNBA champion has been under fire for her thoughts on Caitlin Clark since many fans believe Swoopes dislikes the first-year star.

In August, she went on her podcast and talked about the Indiana Fever’s success in the latter half of the season and didn’t give credit to Clark for helping change the tide in Indiana. Swoopes mentioned Kelsey Mitchell, Aliyah Boston and Katie Lou Samuelson as the keys to success for the Fever.

Given her inability to give Clark any praise for her generational rookie season, fans called out Swoopes for allegedly hating on the former Iowa Hawkeyes star.

Swoopes recently addressed those comments, mentioning that she does not dislike Clark and is actually a fan of the way she plays. She said the real problem she’s faced is having to deal with “ugly fans” who have sided with Caitlin Clark.

“I appreciate that,” Swoopes said. “Please know that I do not dislike or hate her. I like her game. too. It’s all of the ugly fans that I don’t care for. Thank you.”

Fans have commented on Swoopes’ “hatred” for Caitlin Clark all season, but she’s made it clear how she feels about the rookie. Swoopes said she likes her game, contrary to popular belief of WNBA fans.

The rookie has been sensational in her first year with the Indiana Fever.

Clark is averaging 18.7 points, 8.4 assists and 5.6 rebounds per game. She leads all rookies in points and the entire league in assists.

The WNBA Rookie of the Year debate between Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark and Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese has been ongoing for most of the season. While both players have been historic, many feel Clark has now graduated to the WNBA MVP conversation after running away with Rookie of the Year. This discussion really began heating up after Clark finished with 31 points and 12 assists to defeat Reese and the Sky on Friday. Averaging 24.6 points, 9.0 assists, and 5.0 rebounds since the Olympic break, Clark has led Indiana to a 6-1 record during this stretch. Now 17-16 on the season, Indiana has clinched a spot in the WNBA playoffs for the first time since 2016.
