On Monday, Kelly’s status and a few others were updated by Mario Cristobal.

This season, the Miami Hurricanes’ defensive line has required a “next man up” mindset. More negative news regarding injuries has been delivered to them.

In response to a question on the health of Akheem Mesidor, who has missed a number of games due to injuries, Cristobal provided an update on Nyjalik Kelly, a sophomore pass rusher.

“I can tell you Nyjalik will be out for the rest of the season,” Cristobal said. “His is a little bit more significant (than Mesidor’s injury.)”

Cristobal said about Mesidor, “Akheem, I feel like he’s close.” Cristobal also mentioned that Mesidor will be the subject of another examination later this week and on Monday.

Rueben Bain, Leonard Taylor, Jared Harrison-Hunte, and Jahfari Harvey are defensive lineman who have stepped up in Mesidor, Kelly, and Branson Deen’s absence.

over Monday morning, Cristobal had mentioned starting quarterback Tyler Van Dyke over the radio, but he restated in the afternoon that “he’s good to go.” Henry Parrish, the running back, missed the Clemson game as well, and Cristobal stated the same for him.

Trevonte’ Citizen, the running back, is now close, according to Cristobal. Yes, he is. He is representing Indianapolis and needs to cooperate and collaborate with others this week. He is in charge of all the running, cutting, and drilling, and this week he is also expected to make some contact. We take extreme caution when it comes to it. This was, after all, a rather serious injury. After a number of events, he experienced a setback while getting well. He looks fantastic. It’s more an issue of confidence now than it is of physicality because he’s reached the stage where you can’t tell he had an injury. Making sure he feels enough secure and capable of playing quickly enough to actuallynot put oneself in danger of harm of any kind.”

A knee injury that Citizen sustained at fall camp in 2022 has kept him out of action for the first 1.5 seasons of his Miami career.

Running back Don Chaney Jr. is doing well, according to Cristobal. With a slight injury, he departed the Clemson game during the fourth quarter.

This Saturday, October 28 at 3:30 p.m., the Miami Hurricanes take on the Virginia Cavaliers at Hard Rock Stadium. Virginia just won unexpectedly at North Carolina.
