Alabama Accepts Aggies Defensive Transfer

The Texas A&M defender decides to transfer to Tuscaloosa for 2024.The No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide football program has struck its first win in the transfer portal during the 2023-24 offseason cycle.

Former Texas A&M defensive lineman LT Overton has decided to join the Alabama Crimson Tide by way of the transfer portal according to On3Sports.

Overton was a 5-star prospect out of Milton High School in Alpharetta, Ga., in the class of 2022. He was considered the No. 3 player in the state of Georgia and the No. 4 defensive lineman in the class. Overton was the fifth highest ranked recruit in the infamous class that sparked a war of words between former Aggies head coach Jimbo Fisher and current Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban.

Standing at 6-foot-5, 265-pounds, he played in 23 games across two seasons for the Aggies tallying 48 tackles. He started one game this past season and served mostly a rotational role for Texas A&M. He didn’t get on the stat sheet in either of his first two years against the Crimson Tide and will have three more years to play two more seasons.

The defensive lineman has a built-in connection to Tuscaloosa as his father, Milton Overton, served as associate athletic director at The Capstone from 2009-15.

He becomes the Tide’s first incoming transfer in the current cycle and is allowed on the practice field, but is not allowed to participate in the Tide’s 2023 postseason run.

Alabama has reportedly been entertaining another Texas A&M defensive lineman in Fadil Diggs as well as UTSA defensive lineman/edge rusher Trey Moore in the transfer portal.
