The Philadelphia Eagles have had a roller coaster of a regular season in 2023. They started as the best team in the NFL for the first 11 weeks, and seem to be falling off of a cliff ever since their horrific loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Many fans and analysts would agree that the Eagles’ defense is to blame for the team’s recent struggles, which has led to heavy speculation that their coach will be released by the team during the offseason.𝗥𝗨𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗦: It is “almost certain” that #Eagles DC Sean Desai won’t return to the team in 2024, per @Jeff_McLane.

He was demoted earlier in the season, so not a totally shocking revelation.

According to Philadelphia insider Jeff McLane, it is “almost certain” that defensive coordinator Sean Desai will not return to the team in 2024. Desai was demoted earlier this season amid the defensive struggles, so this rumor is not all that far-fetched. The Philadelphia defense is amongst the bottom half in the league ranking 23 overall. They have allowed 48 touchdowns, which is the second most in the league, and fans have had enough of the poor defensive play calling. It appears to be an unfortunate choice, especially given his reputation as one of the best defensive coordinator in the

NFL.

A lot of fans are saying that it is destiny for Desai to be fired after the 2023 season concludes for the Eagles. However, some fans think that the defense is not the issue, and that head coach Nick Sirianni and quarterback Jalen Hurts have been the biggest part of the team’s struggles. On the contrary, while Hurts and the Philadelphia offense have been at a stalemate, the statistics show that the defense has been the main downfall for the team this season.

Philadelphia has already secured a playoff spot, and could still win the NFC East with a win over the New York Giants, and a Dallas Cowboys loss to the Washington Commanders. The team will have to start getting their act together if they want to emulate their early-season success in the postseason. Will the Eagles have a decent playoff push, or will they be knocked out in the first round?
