The Miami Hurricanes constantly seem to come up short every season. While there is a lot of promise going into the season, the Hurricanes could not come out with a win to end the season in their bowl game. After the loss, the program got some more bad news. Former top 100 recruit Collins Acheampong announced he is entering the transfer portal.

Miami Hurricanes Lose Edge Collins Acheampong

Acheampong was a part of the 2023 class so he will have four years of eligibility remaining. The 6-foot-8, 270-pound edge rusher was a top-100 recruit in last year’s cycle. He chose the Hurricanes over Michigan but is now back on the market. Acheampong is likely transferring because of a lack of playing time. He did not see the field in 2023 despite being a highly touted recruit. There will likely be stiff competition for his services as an edge rusher is a premium position in football.

Miami will look to get back on top of the ACC in 2024. The first look at the schedule looks promising. They open the season against a Florida team that is bleeding talent. After that, the biggest matchup will be against the defending conference champion Florida State. The recruiting has been good in the 2024 cycle but now the challenge will be to have that translate to wins on the field. If the Hurricanes cannot be in the conversation for the ACC, there will likely be a lot of questions about the coaching staff.

Can the Miami Hurricanes finally get back on top of the college football world? It has been over 20 years but they are finally hoping 2024 can be their year.

Will the former Maryland quarterback join his brother Tua in the Magic City?

Another quarterback option for the Miami Hurricanes has officially become available.

As reported by Pete Nakos from On3 Sports, former Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal.

It’s been reported in recent weeks that Taulia would be interested in playing for the Miami Hurricanes to be closer to his older brother, Tua. The elder Tagovailoa is in his fourth season with the Miami Dolphins.

Tagovailoa could provide the Hurricanes with valuable experience in an otherwise young quarterback room. Jacurri Brown, heading into his third season, is Miami’s most experienced signal caller.

Most of Miami’s quarterback targets have been graduate transfers and Taulia fits that bill. The Hurricanes would ideally like to develop their young quarterbacks for another season while an upperclassman runs the offense in 2024.
