READ MORE: Georgia’s Defensive Line Core Could Breakout in 2024 Georgia’s interior defensive line group is coming off of a season in which they didn’t exactly impress like they have in previous seasons. But how could they have? When a position loses three first-round caliber players over the course of two seasons, eventually that attrition is going to catch up to you and the expectations are going to rise. The good news for Georgia is that they return a list of key contributors from 2023 and the entire group could be on the verge of breakout seasons. The two headliners of the group are Nazir Stackhouse and Warren Brinson as they are the veterans in the room and ultimately decided to return for another season. Both Stackhouse and Brinson showed flashes last season of being major disruptors upfront for the Bulldogs, they were just seeking consistency. With both of them electing to return, that is usually a sign of wanting to accomplish more as a team but also continue to develop as an individual. And if Brinson and Stackhouse both take steps forward this offseason like it is expected they will, they both could be in store for a breakout year. The interior defensive line group doesn’t stop at Brinson and Stackhouse though. There’s a group of players right behind them that will likely see their roles expand in 2024. Christen Miller is one name in particular that really sparked his name into the conversation last season. He quickly became a reliable factor in the run game upfront and made the most of his in-game reps, even if they weren’t coming in bunches. Another offseason of development heading into his third year could be the box to be checked before Miller puts it all together. Jamaal Jarrett and Jordan Hall are two more names that belong in this group of potential breakout candidates. Both were part of the 2023 recruiting class and both saw action in their first season as collegiate athletes. That’s typically a good indicator of players who will be meaningful contributors throughout their entire career, and Hall and Jarrett both looked the part even as true freshmen. It may seem far-fetched to believe that five players in the same room could have breakout seasons, but considering the trajectories of their careers up to this point, it seems like the correct line of thinking. It’s certainly safe to believe that the position group as a whole will improve upon what they were last season, and could be a major difference-maker for Georgia during the 2024 season.
