Three of Ryan Montgomery’s coaches describe what Georgia added at quarterback
Ryan Montgomery has all the tools to be a successful Georgia quarterback.
Just ask the coaches who watch him the most. It’s always been that way.
“I knew when he walked in as a freshman, there weren’t too many throws he couldn’t make. When you talk about throwing that deep-out across the field from high school hash, those are throws that college scouts drool over. He can make that at a very young age. Early on as a freshman, we knew he could make the throws,” Findlay offensive coordinator Matt Best told Dawgs247. “So we’ve we’ve tried to cautiously bring him along, but we knew right away he was pretty blessed with arm strength and being able to make all the throws.”
In this article, Dawgs247 connected with three of the coaches who Georgia’s newest quarterback commit considers the coaches that guided him to this point.
Findlay head coach Stefan Adams, Findlay offensive coordinator Matt Best, and Montgomery’s private quarterback coach Brad Maendler spoke about multiple aspects of Montgomery’s game: the mental size, his physical tools, offensive scheme abilities, coachability, style of play, and his special breakout moment.
They all went thoroughly in-depth to help paint the picture of what Georgia’s adding at quarterback in the 2025 recruiting class.
College football transfer portal rankings: SEC’s 25 best newcomers for 2024 as spring window opens
The SEC is home to many of the top college football transfers from the 2024 recruiting cycle. Even as the spring transfer portal window gets underway, more than half of the players in the latest transfer portal prospect rankings are already enrolled at an SEC program. Some of those transferred within the SEC, but a majority enter the power league as newcomers.
It is unsurprising the SEC holds nine of the top 20 spots in the transfer portal team rankings for this cycle. That number could improve as the spring window develops and conference championship and national championship contenders address needs. Ole Miss and Texas A&M made numerous big moves — 40 combined incoming transfers to be exact — during the winter window to claim the top two positions in the rankings.
SEC newcomer Texas, as well as South Carolina, are also featured in the top 10 of the rankings, but the Gamecocks did not land one of the 25 highest-rated transfers in the league.
