Sad News: Birmingham City Head Coach Wayne Rooney Has Been Issue…..

Birmingham City could face a battle to keep one of their January signings amid an uncertain future for one of their transfer targets.

Paik Seung-ho joined Blues in January on a free transfer after leaving K-League outfit Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors. The 27-year-old signed a two-and-a-half-year deal that will keep him at St Andrew’s until 2026.

He’s played a lot of football since arriving and has adapted well to a new country. The 15-cap South Korea international has started 13 of the 16 games that he has played in, impressing Mark Venus and Rowett.

A report from Football Insider however says that Sunderland, who Seung-ho chose Birmingham over are ‘plotting’ a new move for him. A ‘fresh pursuit’ is said to be coming and it could all hinge on whether Gary Rowett’s side stay up or not.

The club are in danger of dropping out of the Championship and despite picking up four points from their last two games, they dropped in to the bottom two after Sheffield Wednesday’s win over Blackburn Rovers.

Birmingham must now win against Huddersfield Town who look all but destined to be relegated, while also getting a positive result against Norwich City. It’s extremely tight at the bottom, and any one out of Stoke City, QPR, Blackburn Rovers, Plymouth Argyle, Sheffield Wednesday, Birmingham or Huddersfield could go down.

If Birmingham do stay up then they could potentially revisit one of their former targets, who is currently at Sunderland. Callum Styles was linked with a move to the Midlands in January but ended up joining the Wearside club on loan from Barnsley. The Hungarian international however is unsure whether Sunderland will pursue him on a permanent basis when the 2023/24 season concludes.

Sunderland are interested in a move for Birmingham City midfielder Paik Seung-ho this summer, according to a report by Football Insider.
Sunderland wanted to land the South Korea international in the January transfer window.

Seung-ho, 27, ended up joining the Blues instead on a two-and-a-half year deal.

However, in this latest update regarding his situation by Football Insider, the Black Cats are ‘plotting’ a new move for him at the end of this season.

Sunderland eye Birmingham City man
Seung-ho’s future at Birmingham City may well depend on what league they are playing in next term. They are fighting for their lives right now under Gary Rowett with two fixtures left to play.

It is unlikely that he would stick around with the Midlands outfit if they slip into League One.

Sunderland could throw him a Championship lifeline as they look to prepare for the next campaign. The North East club have a big decision to make on who to bring in as their next permanent manager with Mike Dodds still in interim charge following Michael Beale’s exit.

Seung-ho would give the Black Cats more competition and depth in the middle of the park and would also inject experience into their youthful ranks.

He was on the books at Barcelona as a youngster before going on to have permanent spells at Peralada and Girona.

The Seoul-born man moved to Germany in 2019 and spent two years at Darmstadt, both of which were in the Bundesliga.2.

Seung-ho then switched to Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in the K-League and made 106 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with 11 goals.

Birmingham City’s focus right now is on staying up after their 0-0 draw away at Rotherham United over the weekend.

They are back in action on Saturday with a crucial away trip to Huddersfield Town before they face Norwich City on the final day.
