Two Bengals Star Extend Contract Through 2025…..
This move, will keep him under contract up to and including the 2025 season. Ja’Marr Chase is set to earn an estimated total of $21.8 million, guaranteed in 2025, as part of his rookie contract.
Picked fifth overall in the 2021 draft, Chase has proven the team’s investment right by playing at an elite level since his league debut.
Reunited with his college quarterback, Joe Burrow, Chase has showcased an all-round dynamism on the field, helping the Bengals to reach Super Bowl LVI.
While sidelined by an injury during five games in the 2022 season, he continued doing what he does best: catching passes.
He nabbed 87 out of 1,046 yards with a total of nine touchdowns credited to his name that year.
Chase secured a personal record with 100 astounding receptions. Going for 1,216 yards with seven touchdowns.
Adding to his accolades, Chase has made the Pro Bowl selection in each of his initial three seasons.
While he is eligible for a contract extension, the recent move by the Bengals quells immediate anxieties about the future.
So long as he’s contracted for 2025, the urgency to extend his contract isn’t a pressing concern.
Chase may also be taking cues from the market scenario. Justin Jefferson, Chase’s former college teammate, may reset the market with his potential second contract.
This could have significant impacts on negotiations in the future.
The wide receiver market has been a game of musical chairs this offseason with so many talented wideouts in line for new contracts and changing markets in order to get what they deserve.
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins requested a trade earlier this offseason instead of playing on the franchise tag, but the two sides have reconciled and he won’t be going anywhere, and neither will his superstar counterpart Ja’Marr Chase.
In an incredibly unsurprising decision according to their official X account, the Bengals have exercised the option to extend Chase’s contract and pick up his 2025 fifth-year option.
There was no world where the Bengals didn’t pick up Chase’s option, so it’s nice the team had an easy transaction here as opposed to the roller coaster of emotions they went through with Higgins this offseason.
Any discussions of a long-term extension with Chase will likely take place after this season, but for now, he’ll simply be locked in for the next two years of his rookie deal.
Chase’s career has begun with three incredible seasons, as he has 3,717 yards and 29 touchdowns despite missing six games and not having Joe Burrow for half of this past season.
His draftmate Amon-Ra St. Brown signed a four-year, $120 million deal today that made him the highest-paid receiver in the league, so whenever Chase does get his long-term deal, that’s a good bar for fans to look at that Chase should be able to clear financially.
