Dean Wilson and Max Anstie dominate Round Two of the Australian Supercross Championship.

Dean Wilson (SX1) and Max Anstie (SX2) won round two of the 2023 Australian Supercross Championship in front of over 20,000 fans at McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle.

In a night of hard-fought racing at the Triple Crown round, both riders took the maximum 75 points after three wins (1-1-1) in their separate finals.

Parker Ross won the SX3 class for the second time after winning the first round in Adelaide two weeks earlier, while Cooper Ford of Tasmania won the CR22 85cc Cup.

The hard packed track was sloppy and slippery due to rain before to the event, and a challenging sequence of whoops added to the difficulty. Smart decisions and solid starts were critical, and the star riders eventually rose to the top. The Triple Crown concept was in effect for SX1 and SX2, resulting in furious racing and intriguing watching for fans.

The star-studded field exploded out of the gates in the final, with five-time Australia Champion Justin Brayton gaining an early lead over current series leader and Scotsman Dean Wilson, Matt Moss, and Justin Hill. Early on, Moss was in the mix with Wilson, who eventually past him to go head-to-head with his Honda partner. Sadly for Moss, his night was cut short by a massive accident on lap seven, leaving the resilient Australian extremely upset. Wilson and Brayton went bar-to-bar while managing traffic with lappers, but Wilson took advantage of the situation, seizing the lead and eventually taking the first SX1 checkered flag.
