The Celtic Coach Whose Summer Comeback Was Not Expected.
Over the summer, Brendan Rodgers returned to Celtic to high praise. The majority of Hoops supporters eventually supported the change, and those who didn’t have been persuaded now.
The Irishman made no major changes to the coaching staff at Lennoxtwon after returning to Glasgow. Gavin Strachan, John Kennedy, and Harry Kewell were still with the team, but during the summer, a fourth important backroom member was brought in.
When Rodgers returned to Celtic, the homecoming of Jack Lyons went mostly unnoticed. During the first season of the double-treble-winning manager, Lyons, a young tactical and opposition-analysis coach, attracted the attention of Rodgers and several Lennoxtown staff members through his blog.
Rodgers quickly included him in the setup, and he went to Leicester with the 50-year-old. Few people were aware that the young coach returned to Celtic in the summertime along with Rodgers.
Lyons plays a crucial role in the coaching group. Recently, Rodgers (The Scotsman) observed of him: “And obviously Jack Lyons.” I brought in Jack as a bright young coach with exceptional analytical skills. He is able to analyze and convey that to players as well.
Although he is still a relatively young coach, Lyons will advance in his career as he accumulates more football-related experience. Nonetheless, he has already performed admirably, helping the Hoops win multiple titles and Leicester win the FA Cup and Community Shield.
