Braves Reportedly Linked To Top Free-Agent Pitcher
Everybody in MLB is talking about Aaron Nola and Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
Nola is being discussed because the Philadelphia Phillies re-signed him to a mammoth contract on Sunday.
Yamamoto, on the other hand, remains probably the top free-agent option available on the market at the moment, and there are a number of teams interested in his services, including the Phillies themselves.
Sonny Gray, also available for just money, remains a quality, yet not frequently discussed option for MLB organizations looking for pitchers.
The Atlanta Braves, however, know that Gray might even be a better option for 2024 than the two aforementioned pitchers.
“The Braves are one of the top suitors for free agent Sonny Gray, sources say. Atlanta had spoken with Aaron Nola’s camp before Nola returned to the Phillies,” MLB insider Jon Morosi tweeted.

As Morosi states, the Braves were interested in Nola before he committed his future to the Phillies.
Now, they are reportedly interested in Gray, who was a Cy Young award finalist in the American League thanks to his 2.79-ERA season with the Minnesota Twins.
Gray recently turned 34, but showed in 2023 that he still has plenty of gas left in the tank.
His 3.47 career ERA gives him the kind of profile the Braves are looking for: experienced, but with present skills to contribute.
Despite Nola signing with the Phillies, the free agency period is still very young.
Expect the Braves to be linked with lots of top pitchers, as they look to bring in talent to support their incredibly deep and talented offense
