“Sipho Chaine is still recovering and unlikely to be available immediately after the international break. The injury is likely to keep him out of competitive football for a few more weeks,” a source revealed to Soccer Laduma.
“Initially, it was thought that he would be out for a few weeks but it has taken longer than that. What works for Pirates though is that they have some of the best players in the league in that department. Melusi Buthelezi has been doing well and there are top keepers in the squad in Richard Oxford and Siyabonga Mpontshane who are waiting for their chance.”
Orlando Pirates may have to do without goalkeeper Sipho Chaine for a few more weeks following a knee injury sustained last month.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper sustained a knee injury during the Carling Knockout Cup match against Cape Town Spurs last month.
Since then, Chaine has been undergoing treatment in the medical room, aiming for a quick return to the field.
However, recent reports indicate that the goalkeeper is far from being prepared to don his Pirates kit.
