Danny Murphy now predicts Newcastle vs Chelsea winner ahead of this weekend
Mauricio Pochettino‘s men drew 4-4 with Manchester City just before the international break, which came after their 4-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur. Speaking on FIVE, Danny Murphy has now said whether he thinks the Blues will be able to pick up from where they left off.
They could be boosted by the return of Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia, who could be included in the matchday squad after coming back from their respective injuries.
Chelsea’s record at St James’ Park has not been great in recent seasons. Nevertheless, Murphy is still backing the Blues to come out on top amid Newcastle’s injury crisis.
Ahead of Saturday’s game, the former Liverpool player said on FIVE: “I think Chelsea will win at Newcastle because of Newcastle’s injuries.”
Will Chelsea really beat Newcastle this weekend?
We hope so, but if you ask any Chelsea fan which away ground do you hate playing at the most, many would probably say St James’ Park.
It has just not been a good place for the Blues, who lost 1-0 there last season.
This time around, with Chelsea having managed to find a bit of form and Pochettino now at the helm instead of Graham Potter, there is reason to be a bit more confident.
Still, even with Newcastle’s injury problems, it is not going to be an easy game.
It would be great if Chelsea could pick up all three points to help keep their Champions League dream alive, but a draw, perhaps a 1-1, just seems to be the more likely outcome when you consider everything. But hopefully Pochettino’s side can go one better than that.
