After the season, Express Sport will bring you the most recent F1 news.

However, it remains to be seen whether Lewis Hamilton or Lando Norris will be able to challenge Verstappen for the end-of-season title next year. The former is still vying for his eighth world title, but he will need a faster car from Mercedes to compete with Red Bull for victories on a consistent basis.

Meanwhile, if McLaren continues to develop their car on an upward trajectory, Norris could emerge as Verstappen’s closest rival. The Woking team has improved by leaps and bounds in recent months and will be hoping to pull off a surprise title challenge when the new season begins.

Highest-paid F1 drivers revealed with Max Verstappen pay rise triggered – report

Max Verstappen can add another area of dominance to his F1 2023 campaign after easily winning the highest-paid driver title, with a pay increase on the horizon.

Verstappen set a new and potentially unrivalled standard in F1 2023, winning 19 of a possible 22 races, with his Red Bull team winning 21 overall.

It was then a breeze to back-to-back championships for both driver and team, with both finishing with more than double the points of their closest rivals, Sergio Perez and Mercedes, respectively.

Max Verstappen receives $70 million for his masterclass in Formula One 2023.
Unsurprisingly, Verstappen’s unwavering success will be reflected in his bank account, with Forbes revealing the top ten highest-paid drivers for F1 2023, who earned a total of $258 million.

Forbes’ calculations are based on on-track earnings, which include base salary and bonuses, as well as any personal endorsements that a given driver may have.

Verstappen tops the list for the second season in a row, with $70 million earned from a base salary of $45 million and a whopping $25 million in bonuses to show for his unprecedented F1 2023 dominance.

F1 2024 marks the start of his Red Bull contract extension, which will take him through the end of 2028 and, according to Forbes, will result in a salary increase for the three-time World Champion.

Lewis Hamilton came in second, retaining the P1 spot for the highest salary on the grid at $55 million, despite another disappointing season for the Brit and his Mercedes team, which resulted in a big zero next to his name in the bonuses column.

Hamilton went winless for the second season in a row in F1 2023, while Mercedes failed to win a race for the first time since 2011.

With a two-year contract extension signed with Mercedes, Hamilton will enter F1 2024 determined to end Verstappen’s reign.

Fernando Alonso ranks third with F1 2023 earnings of $34 million, including $10 million in bonuses, following a sensational first season with Aston Martin in which he scored eight podium finishes, while Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz, the only non-Red Bull grand prix winner, also ranks in the top ten.
