The Dallas Cowboys are still the No. 5 seed in the NFC playoff standings entering Week 13. It looked for a while on Sunday that the Cowboys would pull closer to the Eagles, but Philadelphia clawed out an overtime victory against the Bills despite being outgained by 100 yards and losing the turnover battle.

It’s frustrating, but the only thing Dallas can do is keep winning games and hope the Eagles experience regression before the end of the regular season.

For the second straight week, the Cowboys will play on Thursday. They boatraced the Commanders 45-10 on Thanksgiving and will now turn their attention to the playoff hopeful Seahawks, who’ll visit AT&T Stadium for Thursday Night Football.

The 6-5 Seahawks have lost two straight games to the Rams and 49ers, respectively, and are now clinging to the No. 7 seed in the NFC. Suffice it to say this is a monster game for Seattle and they’ve resorted to drastic measures to gain a competitive edge as a road underdog.

On Sunday, the Seahawks signed Kelvin Joseph to their practice squad.

Teams love trying to gain a competitive edge on the Cowboys.

Earlier this season, the 49ers signed former Dallas cornerback Anthony Brown before the team’s played in Week 5. The Patriots pulled a similar stunt when they signed former Cowboys quarterback Will Grier before the team’s Week 4 matchup.

While we can’t fault Pete Carroll for trying to get the upper hand, the odds of Joseph spilling worthwhile insider knowledge are slim, at best.

A second-round pick in the 2021 draft, Joseph only lasted two seasons in Dallas. He started a combined three games and played 330 defensive snaps compared to 459 on special teams. Athleticism and instincts are the best things he has going for him, but he wasn’t able to shrug off penalties and struggles in coverages.

The led to the Cowboys trading Joseph to the Dolphins in August, but he was released on Nov. 14 after cornerback Jalen Ramsey returned from injury.

Joseph might be able to provide Seattle with pointers in terms of how his former Cowboys teammates play, including CBs DaRon Bland and Jourdan Lewis, but that’s about it. He was nearly exclusively a special teams player by the end of his Dallas tenure.

We don’t blame Pete Carroll for trying, but the idea that Joseph could give Seattle game-altering info is desperation at its finest.
