Davion Davis has made his way back to the NFL. The Birmingham Stallions standout wide receiver has signed to the Houston Texans practice squad, following a stint with the Arizona Cardinals earlier this year.
In 2023, Davion took quite the road to make it to the NFL. He began the year with the XFL’s Houston Roughnecks, but was released during training camp.
Davis ended up signing with the Birmingham Stallions, and the rest is history. He was one of the top receivers in the USFL during their 2023 season, helping lead Birmingham to a Championship victory.
In 2023, Davion Davis posted 575 receiving yards (2nd in the USFL), alongside four touchdowns. He continued his dominance in the postseason, scoring the first touchdown in the Championship affair against Pittsburgh.
Throughout the year, Davis was a go to target for league MVP Alex McGough. McGough spoke on Davion’s abilities to always be in the “right place at the right time” during the season.
Following his USFL campaign, Davis signed with the Arizona Cardinals. He impressed during the preseason, making a spectacular grab during their matchup against the Vikings.
This led to Davis being on and off of the Cardinals’ practice squad for the past couple of months.
Now, he looks to continue his professional career with the Houston Texans. Had it not been for the national platform and exposure the USFL provided him with, who knows if this would have been made possible.
