Sherrone Moore Updates On Michigan Football Injuries Post Maryland

Here’s the latest on the Wolverines’ injuries heading into Ohio State.

Michigan injuries: Starting LT LaDarius Henderson out for Maryland game - Maize n Brew

Michigan was extremely healthy entering game 11 against Maryland. The Wolverines had just two players on their injury report, but one was starting LT La’Darius Henderson.

After the Wolverines defeated Maryland 31-24 on Saturday, acting head coach Sherrone Moore said he believes Henderson will be back next week against Ohio State.

“LD [La’Darius Henderson] was working through something, he’ll be back next week,” Moore told reporters.

Moore inserted Myles Hinton to start at LT on Saturday in place of Henderson. Hinton was having a good outing, but he got injured and it appeared that he was in a ton of pain when he was on the ground. He was able to get up, but couldn’t put much pressure on his right knee it appeared.

Moore said there was no structural damage to Hinton’s knee. But he’s confident in all the O-linemen that may go in. Once Hinton went out, Moore shifted Karsen Barnhart to LT and inserted Trente Jones in at RT.

“Myles got a little knee — ended up no structural damage or anything,” Moore said. “Nothing crazy. Trente [Jones] and Karsen [Barnhart], we knew, and I talked about this at the beginning of the year, it’s going to take 10 o-linemen to win this whole thing and do what we want to do. Everybody is prepared, Trente went in and did a really good job. There was no budget on who would go in, he’s a starting-caliber player so had full faith in him when he went in there.”

Hinton wasn’t the only Michigan player who got banged up against Maryland. During the first quarter, J.J. McCarthy found his No. 1 target Roman Wilson for a 23-yard gain. But a Maryland defender hit him high and was called for targeting — after review it was ruled as not targeting — and Wilson immediately went to the medical tent and then the locker room. After emerging from the locker room, Wilson was seen in street clothes on the sideline.

Coach Moore told the media that Wilson was ruled out by the trainers. But it sounds like Wilson was in good spirits and was OK standing on the sidelines with his teammates.

“Obviously, was out, not sure the exact knowledge of what it is, but the trainers ruled him out at that time,” said Moore. “Which was the responsible thing for us to do as a staff. They’re always on top of that stuff especially when it has anything to do with the head. He was fine and he was on the sideline with us afterward. Other guys gotta step up, next man up. That’s how it is with Big Ten football. It’s physical, things like that happen. Those other guys stepped up and did a good job.”

Linebacker Michael Barrett got a little banged up as well. He was seen after the game with a wrap around his left shoulder. He told reporters he had an AC Sprain, but he should be fine.

Michigan will host Ohio State next Saturday at Noon on Fox.
