Florida football recruiting: Gators trending for in-state S Gregory Smith III
The Gators are on track to land another commitment in their 2024 class

Florida football recruiting has a top five recruiting class in the country in the 2024 cycle, but that could change a lot before the early signing period.

There are rumors about some of their top commits potentially flipping away from the class, but there is also some positive buzz about the Gators gaining another commitment soon.

In-state safety Gregory Smith III, who is set to announce his commitment and sign on December 20th, has received a couple of crystal ball predicitons to come ot the Gators on 247 Sports.

He’s deciding between Florida, USF, Ole Miss, Toledo, Virginia, and Vanderbilt.

Florida football recruiting: Jack of all trades
Smith’s high school stats are fun to look at because he fills up just about every section of the box score on both sides of the ball.

Offensively, he threw for 1,633 yards over 11 games with 32 touchdowns and four interceptions. He also ran 76 times for 409 yards and seven touchdowns.

At safety, where the Gators are recruiting him, he he totaled 29 tackles, four pass breakups, an interception, and a forced fumble with a recovery.

Smith is 6’4”-195, and has room on his frame to add some more muscle before he sees consistent reps in the SEC.

His potential as an athlete makes him such an appealing recruit for Billy Napier and the Gators. Even if he doesn’t work out at safety, there will be room for him somewhere on the football field. That’s the type of player that he can become.

With the multiple crystal balls that the Gators have received, as well as UF being an overwhelming favorite per On3’s RPM, there is a lot of confidence within the program that Smith will end up in Gainesville.

Gregory is one of those sleeper recruits that can make a good class a great one.
