Georgia Bulldogs Land Talented Wide Receiver From SEC Rival From The Transfer Portal

Vanderbilt Wide Receiver London Humphreys Named SEC Freshman Of The Week - Rutherford Source

Georgia Bulldogs didn’t have the season they were hoping for. While it was by no means a failure, the SEC Championship game loss to Alabama definitely stings. To make matters worse, they have seen a lot of players leave the program through the portal. Now Kirby Smart is flipping the script. Former Vanderbilt wide receiver London Humphreys announced his commitment to Georgia.

Top WR in transfer portal projected to commit to Georgia

Georgia Bulldogs Land WR London Humphreys

Humphreys was a great asset to the Vanderbilt offense in 2023. He caught 22 passes for 439 yards and 4 touchdowns. He still has three years of eligibility left and will help fill a void in the Georgia offense. Many of this year’s pass-catchers are leaving for the NFL Draft and returning quarterback Carson Beck will need some weapons. Humphreys had this to say in a statement.

“The level of efficiency within the program and how everything they do is calculated along with the amazing support system they have there. The relationship I have with the coaching staff is very important. I’ve gotten to know the coaches over the transfer portal process. I’m closest with coach BMac and from what I’ve heard they plan on having me be able to play any position but mainly the Z.”

Georgia 2024 Outlook

Alabama's Smart reaches verbal agreement with Georgia

The Bulldogs will be eager to be back on top of the college football world in 2024. However, it will be interesting to see if they feel the effects of players leaving via the portal. While Kirby Smart has a top recruiting class coming in, at some point, the loss of talent should be felt. If it isn’t, it shows how talent-rich the Georgia program is. An in-season matchup with Alabama highlights the early season schedule for 2024 and will give us a first look at which team has the inside track for the SEC.

Can Georgia bounce back after this season? They definitely have no shortage of talent and having Beck back under center will be helpful.
