3-star wide receiver Sacovie White officially signs with Georgia
Wide receiver Sacovie White turned heads around Athens with his camp performance a couple of summers ago. White landed firmly on Georgia’s radar then and never left, leading to his big day on Wednesday.
White officially signed with Georgia on Wednesday. White is now set to join the Bulldogs after committing to the program in October 2022. He is Georgia’s 21st signee of the early signing period.
The 5-foot-9, 170-pound White is considered the 37th-best athlete in the 2024 class and the 55th-best prospect in the state of Georgia according to 247Sports. He is expected to play wide receiver with the Bulldogs.
“I feel like I can prove everybody wrong. I’ve been doubted a lot. I’m only 5’9”. Everybody’s like, ‘Oh, he’s not going to play’ or ‘He’s going to wear this big number and never get on the field,’” White told Dawgs247’s Benjamin Wolk in October. “Well, they don’t know what they say to me and what’s really going on. I’m like, OK, just keep talking and we’ll see.”
White contributed a great deal on both sides of the ball in 2023 for a Cass football team that won seven games in Georgia’s Class 5A and reached the state quarterfinals. On the offensive side, he had 91 receptions for 1,409 yards and 15 touchdowns. Cass head coach Steve Gates said White’s receiving-yard mark was the highest among all wide receivers in Georgia this season.
Like many of Georgia’s players, White was a multi-sport athlete in high school. He opened his junior season of track at Cass High School by posting an 11.01 in the 100-meter dash. He also played basketball for the Colonels and averaged 7.2 points per game as a junior.
White’s junior season in 2022 saw him catch 54 passes for 716 yards and 7 touchdowns and contribute a pick-six on defense. He also had two punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown for the Colonels.
White earned Offensive MVP honors at the national combine the following January.
