Green Bay Packers Injury Report: 2 Starters on Defense Sit Out of Wednesday’s Practice
After giving up 34 total points to Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense last Sunday, the Green Bay Packers defense continues to be out of sync.
Players and coaches have been frustrated with not getting stops defensively and fans are starting to lose patience as a whole, even calling for coaches to be fired. With these two guys out of the lineup for Wednesday’s practice, things will only be more difficult for the Packers playoff chances.
De’Vondre Cambell Misses Practice After Statement He Made to Packers Coaching Staff on Tuesday
Former All-Pro linebacker De’Vondre Campbell missed Wednesday’s practice. Campbell was not happy after Sunday’s loss to the Buccaneers and raised eyebrows on Tuesday morning when he posted on X about playing through injuries.
Not going out my way anymore and I’m not playing through injuries anymore cause when shit goes wrong they always use it against you. I’m treating everyone accordingly and giving them the same energy they giving me. Focus on yourself and your mental 59 you owe it to yourself 🤝🏿
Campbell has missed four games this season and only logged 56.9 percent of snaps when on the field. His injury plagued season may be part of the reason for his frustrations, but Campbell sitting out of practice is something to monitor leading up to Sunday’s contest versus Carolina based on his comments. Losing the former All-Pro would only cause issues for Green Bay moving forward.
Darnell Savage Misses Wednesday’s Practice Due to a Shoulder Injury
Darnell Savage was also not seen on the practice field Wednesday due to the shoulder injury that kept him out of practice last week. Savage along with Jaire Alexander were inactive for last week’s game versus Tampa Bay and their presence was missed in the secondary.
The Packers secondary had holes everywhere last Sunday without Savage and Alexander. Baker Mayfield threw for a perfect passer rating, which is the first time any opposing quarterback has ever had a perfect passer rating at Lambeau Field. Adding 381 passing yards and 4 touchdowns make it even worse and it starts with pass coverage.
Alexander returned to practice in a limited fashion Wednesday, but Savage has yet to log participation. Getting either of them back would help the Packers clean up their issues on defense.
Both Campbell and Savage will have two more practices to log participation before traveling to Carolina to take on the Panthers on Sunday.
