The Pittsburgh Steelers cut a running back
The Steelers have had plenty of woes this season on the offensive side of the ball. Anthony McFarland Jr., who added depth to the backfield, has missed a lot of time this season due to injury. The Steelers released a statement announcing McFarland had been cut Thursday:
“The Steelers released running back Anthony McFarland Jr. today.
McFarland spent time on the Reserve/Injured List earlier this year and has only played in three games this season.
McFarland was drafted by the Steelers in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He has played in 17 career games and has 42 carries for 146 career yards. He also has 11 receptions for 87 yards.”
McFarland was a promising running back when he played college football at Maryland. However, injuries derailed his career in Pittsburgh. McFarland started the 2021 season on injured reserve. He spent most of this season on injured reserve.
