Player faces suspension threat after what happened in match
Championship rules state that a player can only collect four yellow cards, before the fifth is partnered with a one-match suspension, and the Baggies midfielder is already on four.
This suspension can be avoided if Yokuslu doesn’t pick up another yellow card before the 19th game of the season, as the tally is then reset, but he will need to go without a booking for his next five games.
If the midfielder picks up another yellow, he will join a growing list of stars who are not available for selection, with John Swift, Josh Maja, Daryl Dike and Jeremy Sarmiento among the key players ruled out with injury issues.
Carlos Corberan will be keen to keep every player possible available, so the imminent threat of suspension will be a source of frustration, with the squad already down to the bare bones.
Yokuslu’s presence in the midfield at The Hawthorns has been key so far this season, with his ability to break up play and then keep the game moving in possession proving a vital element of Corberan’s side.
Unfortunately, the combative nature of his game as he sweeps up in midfield can result in the Turkish midfielder picking up a fair few yellow cards, which has led to the new threat of suspension which he will be hard-pushed to avoid in the next few games.
The only positive from this is that the centre of midfield is the strongest area of this West Brom squad, with the likes of Nathaniel Chalobah and Jayson Molumby ready to step in if they are required in the coming weeks.
