The Vols are set to add a big weapon in the portal for Nico Iamaleava, the quarterback of the future.

Tennessee is set to add a big weapon through the transfer portal for quarterback of the future Nico Iamaleava. Former Tulane star wide receiver Chris Brazzell is transferring to the Vols, a source tells 247Sports.

Brazzell, one of the most highly-sought after receivers in the transfer portal, also garnered interest from schools such as Washington, Colorado and Houston prior to choosing Tennessee.

The 6-foot-5, 215-pound Brazzell posted 711 yards, five touchdowns and an average of 16.2 yards per catch as a freshman at Tulane this season.

In the Green Wave’s final two regular season games —wins over FAU and UTSA — Brazzell posted combined totals of 12 catches, 196 yards and three touchdowns.

What is the NCAA transfer portal?

The portal is an online database that players will enter their name into if they decide to pursue a transfer. Players notify their current school’s compliance office that they wish to put their name into the portal — typically, players’ names show up within 48 hours. Coaches have access to the database and can contact any player who has entered.
