It’s unclear whether the NCAA has officially granted Tagovailoa an extra year of eligibility or if that verdict is still pending. He recently submitted a waiver. Either way, entering the portal is a big step forward for him to possibly play an additional season.

He started four years for the Maryland Terrapins. His 3,377 passing yards led the Big 10 conference in 2023. He threw 25 touchdowns with 11 interceptions last season. He’s the all-time Maryland passing leader with 11,256 passing yards and 76 touchdowns.

If Miami did add him to their QB room, he would likely provide depth and competition. It would be hard to imagine an FCS transfer being handed a starting job. Jacurri Brown and Emory Williams would also push in practice for the QB1 spot.

starter for the Great Danes, Poffenbarger has thrown 60 touchdown passes to 17 interceptions. He threw for 3,614 yards with 36 touchdown passes in 2023. He also scored 6 rushing touchdowns.

Poffenbarger is aggressive with his deep throws and excels at delivering accurate throws on the run. He can extend plays with his athleticism and displays good instincts in the pocket. You can see why he feels he’s ready to make a potential jump to the Power Five.

Miami is also reportedly in play for Liberty transfer Kaidon Salter. He’s the top ranked unsigned quarterback. Salter threw for over 2,800 yards in 2023 while adding 1,089 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns in addition to his 32 passing TD’s. Auburn and Oklahoma are believed to be very much in the mix to add Salter. He has two years of eligibility left.

Don’t sleep on Taulia Tagovaloa. The younger brother of the Miami Dolphins star has left Maryland and is reportedly interested in playing closer to Tua.

Taulia is seeking an extra year of eligibility from the NCAA and is awaiting their verdict on his waiver request. If and when his waiver is granted, you can expect the buzz between him and Miami to grow exponentially.

For the Terrapins in 2023, Tagovailoa threw for 3,377 yards on 66 percent completions for 25 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Unlike Poffenbarger and Salter, Tualia has faced top competition on a regular basis in the Big 10.
