Sean McVay said. ‘He’s Been Great!’ Rams Excited for Return…..

“He’s been great,” Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay said. “I thought he did a good job earlier on.”

The Los Angeles Rams’ kicking situation this season has come full circle.

It started out with Brett Maher kicking the first seven games, but a poor performance against the Pittsburgh Steelers cost him his job as the team moved on to rookie Lucas Havrisik.

Havrisik kicked the next nine games, but missed two extra points in Sunday’s win against the New York Giants, prompting the Rams to move back to Maher, who has kicked in four playoff games with the Dallas Cowboys in his career.

Coach Sean McVay hopes that his big-game experience can help the Rams in the postseason.

“He’s been great,” McVay said. “I thought he did a good job earlier on. When you go back and you look at it, I thought there were a lot of situations, if I’m being honest with myself, that you’re saying those are tough spots to put anybody in with the amount of attempts from 50-plus, and you look at just the landscape of the league, even from the guys that have been doing it as well as anybody all-time or over the course of their careers as of late, so I think you have to be mindful of that. He’s had some big-time game experience so I was pleased with the way Brett came back in.”

Maher hopes that his struggles (especially in the postseason) don’t follow him. Last year with the Cowboys, Maher made just 1 of 6 extra points in two games with Dallas, ultimately leading to a Divisional Round elimination against the San Francisco 49ers.
