Bob Myers Has Landed A New NFL Job
The Washington Commanders will leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of a new boss.
With Ron Rivera finally getting fired, new owner Josh Harris doesn’t want to leave anything to chance.
Notably, it seems like he wants to replicate a successful model from the NBA in the NFL, as he and Magic Johnson just hired one of the most successful GMs in recent NBA history as a part of their advisory group to find a new head of football operations and coach.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, former Golden State Warriors GM Bob Myers will join the party, although he will continue to serve as a studio and game analyst for ESPN’s NBA coverage.
Myers will join the aforementioned Harris and Johnson, former Minnesota Vikings GM Rick Spielman, and businessmen Mitch Rales and David Blitzer.
Often considered the architect of the Warriors’ dynasty, Myers didn’t draft Stephen Curry or Klay Thompson, but he landed Harrison Barnes, Draymond Green, Kevon Looney, and Jordan Poole, and secured big-time free agent signings for the Warriors (including the likes of Kevin Durant), not to mention the fact that he kept their championship core intact in the Bay area with several contract extensions.
He might not have the same expertise when it comes to football, but he’s definitely someone who knows a thing or two about sports business and character.
The Commanders aren’t messing around this time and want to get things right, so don’t expect them to rush to make any decisions.
