Browns, Texans Super Wild Card Weekend Matchup Date And Time Revealed

The the regular season comes to a close, the NFL announced the official schedule for Super Wild Card Weekend, revealing when the Browns and Texans will kickoff

The stage is set.

As Week 18 comes to a close with the the Bills and Dolphins on Sunday Night Football, the NFL revealed the upcoming slate for Super Wild Card Weekend.

For the Cleveland Browns, that means a 4:30 p.m. Saturday kickoff on the road in Houston to kickoff the first round of the playoffs. The game will be featured on both NBA and Peacock.

The Browns finished the season 11-6, clinching the No 5 seed in the AFC in Week 17 to render their Week 18 matchup with the Bengals essentially useless. Because the Texans wound up as the AFC South Champions, they end up as the host team for the matchup despite being one game worse than the Browns at 10-7.

Cleveland’s trip to Houston is pretty familiar to the Browns considering they just played theiri two weeks back, earning a 36-22 win. The Texans looked much different back then though missing a number of key players including starting QB and likely Offensive Rookie of the Year, C.J. Stroud, who is back in the fold.

After the Browns and Texans wrap up, Saturday’s Wild Card doubleheader will feature the No. 3 seed, Chiefs hosting one of the No. 6 Steelers, or Miami or Buffalo based on the results of Sunday Night Football. That game would need to end in a tie in order draw a Josh Allen vs. Patrick Mahomes opening round slugfest. Whereas a Bills win would send the Dolphins to Kansas City.

Sunday’s 1:00 p.m. game also depends on the result of Sunday Night Football as that timeslot will likely feature Buffalo, barring the aforementioned tie scenario. It would either be the Bills or Dolphins hosting Pittsburgh, depending on whoever wins tonight. Or a rematch of this very prime time showdown.

The rest of the weekend is all set. It will be the seven seeded Packers at the two seeded Cowboys at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, followed by a drama filled showdbown between the Rams and Lions at 8:00 p.m. That matchup comes with the riveting storyline of Matthew Stafford making his first return to Detroit, as a member of the Rams since being traded to LA in 2021. Of course, there is also some revenge in play for Lions QB Jared Goff, who was cast away by the Rams as part of that same trade.
