Sad News: hurricanes Lose A Player From The Medical Checkup….
Colbie Young is now a Georgia Bulldog. From the 2022 and 2023 seasons, the former Miami Hurricane has 79 receptions, 939 yards, and 10 touchdowns to his credit.
As the boundary receiver for Miami, Young’s ability to catch tunnel screens and turn them into big gains is something that will be missed. In fact, Miami’s first touchdown of the 2023 season would be the 44-yard touchdown catch and run from Young.
He’s a unique big-bodied receiver because Young possesses the shiftiness that creates missed tackles. According to Pro Football Focus, Georgia is gaining a receiver who only has 2 drops from the 2023 season. That’s also with 47 receptions, 563 yards, and 5 touchdowns. He is a proven clutch player, too.
Against Clemson and with true freshman quarterback Emory Williams entering the lineup unexpectedly due to Tyler Van Dyke being out o
f the lineup with an injury, Young’s performance deserves special mention.
Targeted 7 times, he has 6 catches, 76 yards, and a touchdown. That score would be with 8:00 minutes remaining and allowing the Canes to close the gap to 17-14. Miami went on to win 28-20 in overtime.
With his natural size at 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds, as the video displays, Young should be a valuable commodity for the Bulldogs whenever they want to go up top.
Overall, UGA is gaining a quality wide receiver who can make noise in the SEC. Good luck to Young in Athens, Ga.
