Just In: Giants coach Brian Daboll why refused to appear for the interviewed….?
NASHVILLE— Tennessee Titans leadership conducted an interview Friday with New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka for the Titans head coaching role. Kafka was interviewed virtually due to NFL regulations prohibiting in-person interviews until Jan. 22. The interview was the second of the day for the vacancy. The Titans also interviewed Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan. Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk and general manager Ran Carthon held the virtual interviews less than a week after Strunk fired Vrabel. Kafka joined Brian Daboll’s staff with the New York Giants in 2022 as the offensive coordinator. Kafka started his NFL coaching career on Andy Reid’s staff with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2017 as a quality control coach. Kafka was promoted to quarterbacks coach with the Chiefs in 2018, and he coached QBs through 2021. Kafka was quarterbacks coach/pass game coordinator in 2020-21, where he worked with Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The Titans have requested interviews with at least nine coaches: Callahan, Las Vegas Raiders interim coach Antonio Pierce, the Detroit Lions’ Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson, the Baltimore Ravens’ Mike Macdonald, the Dallas Cowboys’ Dan Quinn, the Houston Texans’ Bobby Slowik, and the Philadelphia Eagles’ Brian Johnson.
