Jackson had teased a possible return to the Miami Hurricanes

There will be no Miami Hurricanes reunion for former Fort Lauderdale Dillard defensive back Antione Jackson.

Jackson, who entered the NCAA Transfer Portal on December 26th, has committed to the UCF Knights.

Jackson had signed with Miami in the Class of 2023. The four star recruit then requested a release from his national letter of intent and joined the East Carolina Pirates. He decided to leave ECU after just one season.

After hitting the portal, Jackson expressed his desire on social media to make a return to the Miami Hurricanes. Reportedly, Miami never made him an offer. The Hurricanes are short on available scholarships after accepting 27 high school signees and five transfers so far in this cycle.

Jackson had a good true freshman season at ECU with 19 total tackles and an interception for a touchdown.

The Hurricanes have addressed the most important position in the Transfer Portal and expectations are on the rise.

The Miami Hurricanes had inconsistent quarterback play in 2023. There were also coaching errors (take the knee!) and questionable depth at certain positions. The team went 7-6.

Things are trending up for 2024.

Miami has landed a top seven recruiting class in consecutive years and they’ve added top transfer quarterback Cam Ward. Ward threw for over 3,700 yards at Washington State last season with 25 touchdowns to just 7 interceptions

The leader by far at the time of this publication is 10 wins+ at 57% of the vote. This is very much in line with my personal expectation. Before Ward, I would have been in the 8 win range with 9 as the ceiling.
