QB Carson Beck says he will never play with Bulldogs if Kirby Paul Smart is coach talented star join rivals over bulldogs.
The Georgia Bulldogs continue revamping their roster to win their third title in four years. However, they lost a top secondary recruit on Sunday, potentially hurting their defense in the upcoming years. Per On3 Sports’ Hayes Fawcett, four-star corner Tae Harris has decommitted from Georgia.
Harris is not the first highly-ranked recruit from the upcoming classes to rescind their commitment from Georgia. Five-star recruit Dylan Raiola (2024) also switched his commitment from Georgia to Nebraska.
Harris, a four-seat recruit per 247Sports Composite, is the 27th-ranked corner in the upcoming class. He will reopen his recruiting with offers from Colorado, Kentucky, Florida, and Georgia Tech. The Georgia native plays his high school football at Cedartown. Harris recorded 87 carries for 421 yards and five touchdowns last season. He also caught ten passes for 221 and four scores. The junior added 44 tackles and a tackle for loss on defense. He also caused three fumbles.
Harris also runs track, owning a best of 10.73 in the 100-meter dash. 247Sports has the five-foot-ten, 180-pound corner as a frontrunner for the Florida Gators.
The Georgia Bulldogs entered the SEC Championship undefeated, eyeing a trip to a third College Football Playoff. However, they fell to the one-loss Alabama Crimson Tide, narrowly missing out on the four-team postseason field. Head coach Kirby Smart will look to post another stellar season next year. They return quarterback Carson Beck, who tossed 34 touchdowns to six picks in 2023. They have also done work in the transfer portal, snagging Florida Gators star running back Trevor Etienne. Georgia has swiped Vanderbilt wideout Ondon Humphreys, Alabama safety Jake Pope, and USC skill player Michael Jackson III.
Georgia would have made the CFP this season if they had played according to the 2024 rules. The postseason field expands to 12 teams next year, opening the door for more one-loss teams that fall in their conference championship to have a shot at the title.
