Great JOB: Antonio Pierce created history against the Las Vegas Raiders by…

The Las Vegas Raiders have chosen to choose interim head coach Antonio Pierce as their next full-time coach.

Remarkably, during the 2023 NFL regular season, the Raiders still haven’t appointed a new general manager to oversee operations, following the firing of Dave Ziegler and previous head coach Josh McDaniels.

Most assumed that the hiring of the GM and head coach would happen simultaneously. Along with Ed Dodds, the current assistant general manager of the Indianapolis Colts, interim general manager Champ Kelly is considered the favorite to take over.

But now there’s a chance to add another well-known figure to the Las Vegas candidate pool. The Athletic’s Vic Tafur reports that former Los Angeles Chargers general manager Tom Telesco will speak with Raiders brass members again on Monday. Before being let go during the regular season along with head coach Brandon Staley, Telesco was a member of the Chargers organization for the better part of 11 years.

The 51-year-old Telesco has a wealth of front office expertise in the NFL. Apart from his tenure as general manager of the Chargers from 2013 to 23, he has held several positions with the Indianapolis Colts (2001–12), Carolina Panthers (1995–97), and Buffalo Bills (1991–94).

This in no way implies that he would fit in with the Raiders. Telesco spent most of his time in Southern California struggling with player personnel. Throughout his tenure with the Chargers, the team only managed three trips to the playoffs. They also recorded four times with five wins or fewer.Regarding the Raiders’ broader pursuit of a new general manager, Kelly—who was previously mentioned—listened in on head coach interviews. That might indicate which way to go.
