The top scorer in the country breaks the record for the most costly women’s basketball card.

The 2022 Topps Bowman University Superfractor Rookie card starring Iowa standout Caitlin Clark is generating record-breaking profits in the trading card industry.

The card had already broken the record for the most expensive women’s basketball card a week prior, at $21,000, but Clark’s figure shot even higher following the last sale on Thursday night.The PWCC January Premier Auction saw a closing bid of $78,000, six times more than the previous record-breaking women’s basketball card ($11,500), which belonged to Liberty guard and former Oregon standout Sabrina Ionescu.

With 31.7 points per game for the 18-2 Hawkeyes, Clark, the current Player of the Year, tops the country in scoring. In July 2022, Topps first declared their NIL relationship with Clark.

At $266,400, Serena Williams holds the record price for a women’s sports trading card, and Clark is now behind her.

Clark, one of the most well-known collegiate athletes in the NIL, has partnerships with brands like Nike, Gatorade, State Farm, and Bose.

Clark and the Hawkeyes will try to rebound against Nebraska on Saturday after suffering an overtime loss to Ohio State on Sunday, which was the highest viewed regular season women’s college basketball game on any US network since 2010. The game was broadcast on NBC and streamed on Peacock.
