Sad news: as caitlin clark made a shocking desicion…

Ah well, another day, another Caitlin Clark 30-point performance.

Clark, the current national player of the year, has never finished below thirty points versus Nebraska. She continued to play similarly on Saturday, scoring 38 points, pulling down 10 rebounds, dishing out six assists, and recording two steals in No. 5 Iowa’s 92-73 victory. In the contest, she made 8 of her 15 3-point tries. She told the Big Ten Network that her 28 points in the second half alone came from playing with “more intensity, more emotion, and more pride.” She also gave praise to Iowa’s second-half ball movement, which contributed to the Hawkeyes’ 20 assists.

Clark’s impressive effort continued his push toward breaking Jackie Stiles’ NCAA career scoring record. He is now just five points shy of doing so.

The events of Saturday in Iowa City went as follows:Iowa 92, Nebraska 73 in the end.
There were three players who scored in double digits, with Caitlin Clark leading the way with 38. In addition, she pulled down ten rebounds, recording her 53rd career double-double. Sydney Affolter got 12 points off the bench, and Kate Martin contributed 16 points. Iowa finished with 20 assists and 12 three-pointers, eight of which came from Clark.

Despite the fact that the victory puts Iowa back on track following their shock loss at Ohio State last week, the Hawkeyes were outrebounded 40-31, so there’s still

With yet another outstanding showing, Clark got even closer to breaking Jackie Stiles’ NCAA career scoring record, now standing at just five points short of it.

This is how events on Saturday in Iowa City transpired:

Nebraska 73, Iowa 92 in the end
Not surprisingly, Caitlin Clark ended with 38 points, leading all players with double digits. For her 53rd double-double of her career, she added 10 rebounds. With Sydney Affolter scoring 12 off the bench, Kate Martin added 16 points. Iowa scored 20 assists and made 12 3-pointers in the victory, including 8 from Clark.

Iowa’s victory puts them back on track following their shock loss to Ohio State the previous week, but they were outrebounded 40-31, so there’s still

With ten minutes remaining, Clark has already made six of the 5.2 3-pointers that she leads the country in making per game. She especially enjoys shooting from the left. After thirty minutes, her stats were as follows: 25 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists. Kate Martin has shot six of eight so far today, putting her in double figures at fifteen.

Markowski, on the other bench, has not played as much, despite her 11 points and 10 rebounds.

And Iowa leads by 13 points right now. It’s the biggest lead the Hawkeyes have had in the match.

A pair of three-pointers by Clark, which are a part of Iowa’s recent run of four consecutive field goals made, has given the Hawkeyes some breathing room. With Clark up to 18 points, Nebraska needs to take a pause as she is around 13 points behind her average.

For the Huskers, 6-foot-3 center Alexis Markowski already has eight points and eight rebounds. (She is one of only two Big Ten players averaging a double-double this season.)

Is Caitlin Clark a senior?

Yes, Clark is a senior … but she could come back next year and be a super senior if she wants.

Though she’s projected to be the No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, she could return to Iowa City next season. Because Clark was a freshman in the 2020-21 season, she has a COVID year (basically, that season didn’t count toward anyone’s eligibility).

4:29 2Q: Iowa 22, Nebraska 19

After a couple more scores from Clark — including a tough drive and finish — she’s already got seven points and five rebounds. It’s just crazy how  quickly she can stuff a stat sheet.

Meanwhile, Nebraska has turned the ball over four times in the last 3:21. Not the way to upset Iowa.

Nebraska’s best player overall, Jaz Shelley, scored back-to-back baskets late in the first to help the Huskers get rolling. At the beginning of the second quarter, the Huskers were only down by three points.

Despite Clark sitting out the final few minutes of the game due to a first-quarter foul, Iowa was able to hold onto their lead thanks to baskets from Molly Davis and Gabby Marshall, Clark’s backcourt teammates. Expect an offensive explosion in the second quarter, especially with Clark back on the court.4:54 1Q: Nebraska 9, Iowa 0
Not exactly the way the Cornhuskers would want to get off to a start.

Nebraska’s eight straight field goals were missed, allowing Iowa to take a 9-0 lead. Clark also has just three points, but
