Three American players have joined the Montreal Alouettes’ training camp roster: receiver Jalen Wayne, and defensive backs Nigel Warrior and Ferlando Jordan.

Over the course of four seasons and 49 games, Warrior collected 239 tackles, seven tackles for loss, one sack, three forced fumbles, five interceptions, eighteen pass breakups, and one blocked kick while playing for the University of Tennessee. He was recognized as an honorable mention All-American by Pro Football Focus and was selected to the All-SEC second team by the conference’s coaches in his senior year of 2019.

The 197-pound, six-foot-one safety was not chosen in the 2020 NFL Draft; nevertheless, he later signed with the Baltimore Ravens and played practice squad duty throughout the season. In 2021, he became a member of the Seattle Seahawks, appearing in four games with one tackle.

Warrior is the son of NFL cornerback Dale Carter, who was selected to four Pro Bowls with the Kansas City Chiefs after winning the league’s Defensive Rookie of the Year award in 1992. In addition, he is the cousin of J.R. Reed, the defensive back for the Alouettes, and the nephew of former Minnesota Vikings receiver Jake Reed.

Jordan attended Southeastern Louisiana University for five seasons, where he was named to the FCS All-American third team in 2019 and the second team after the spring 2021 campaign. Despite recording 137 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, a forced fumble, 10 interceptions, 38 pass breakups, three blocked kicks, and 38 interceptions in 44 collegiate games, the three-time first-team All-Southland Conference honoree was not chosen in the 2023 NFL Draft. Last season, he participated in four games with the Pittsburgh Maulers of the USFL and recorded four tackles.

During his six seasons at South Alabama University, Wayne played in 61 games and recorded 152 receptions for 1,978 yards and 14 touchdowns. The six-foot-two, 205-pound prospect was not selected in the 2023 NFL Draft and spent little time with the Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills. His cousin is the Pro Football Hall of Famer

Israel Antwine, an American defensive tackle, was also released by the Alouettes. In seven games during the previous season, the 23-year-old recorded two tackles.

On Thursday, June 6, Montreal will play the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in a Grey Cup rematch to kick off their 2024 campaign.

For years, the Tennessee Volunteers have attempted to compete in the SEC but have never quite succeeded. It got harder to win the season toward the end when Texas and Oklahoma joined the conference. Today, Lance Heard, a former offensive tackle for LSU, confirmed his commitment to the Volunteers, giving the team a major victory.

Heard ranked third among offensive tackles in the 2023 cycle and 51st overall in the 2023 class. He was one of the best offensive linemen in the portal and appeared in 12 games for the Tigers in 2023. Players were transferring away, thus the Volunteers needed some assistance on the offensive line. Heard still has three years left to be eligible, and he’ll probably start right away. He represents the sixth participant that the program has reached via the portal.
