Good News: Tigers key man that suffer injury for 6month set in successful to return…
In an attempt to win at Cameron Indoor for the first time since 1995, the Tigers head to Durham.
After defeating Florida State 78-67 in Littlejohn Coliseum, the Clemson men’s basketball team takes a week off before facing the Duke Blue Devils on Saturday afternoon at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, North Carolina.
Brad Brownell’s team needed this victory significantly since they had lost four of their previous five games coming into the game against the Seminoles, casting doubt on their chances of finishing in the top three. The Blue Devils’ 76-70 home court setback to Pittsburgh last Saturday indicates that they are a respectable but not invincible foe.
Kyle Filipowski, a 7’0 sophomore, is the team leader for Duke. He averages 18.2 points, 9 rebounds, and shoots over 50% from the field, including 40% from three goals. The
The Clemson men’s basketball team travels to Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, North Carolina on Saturday afternoon to play the Duke Blue Devils. The team had one week off after defeating Florida State 78-67 in Littlejohn Coliseum.
Brad Brownell’s team, which had lost four of their previous five games coming into the game against the Seminoles, had been hoping for a top three seed, thus this was a much-needed victory. As seen by their 76-70 home loss to Pittsburgh on Saturday, the Blue Devils will be a formidable but not insurmountable foe.
Kyle Filipowski, a 7’0 sophomore, leads Duke with an average of 18.2 points and 9 rebounds per game. He also shoots over 50% from the field, including 40% from three goals. As the
P.J. Hall, a 6’10 senior, has led Clemson all season long with 19.7 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. Joe Girard and Chase Hunter are also in double digits with 14.9 and 11.8 points per game, respectively, while Ian Schieffelin is slightly below the double digit mark with 9.8 points. Schieffelin leads the team with 9.6 rebounds per game, with Hall ranking second. The Tigers have also had a very effective offense (ranked 13th), but have occasionally struggled defensively, which could pose a problem for them in their home court game against the Blue Devils.
Clemson’s bench was buoyed against the Seminoles by the return of 6’10 forward Jack Clark, who had played since November 28th.
Clark chipped in 7 points and 7 rebounds, including 3 offensive rebounds, in 21 minutes, providing the Tigers a depth they’ve lacked for the last several weeks.
Clemson Men’s Basketball must shoot well on the road at Duke
Call me Captain Obvious, but this is a game where Clemson is going to have to outshoot one of the better shooting teams in the country to win the game, especially since Duke rarely turns the ball over.
When Girard starts making three-pointers in particular, the Tigers can accomplish it.
Girard has occasionally had trouble facing larger guards, and Duke has a number of them.
In what should be an incredible spectacle, P.J. Hall will also get the chance to face off against one of the biggest names in the game—Filipowski.
The fact that Hall tends to draw fouls early in games could pose a problem for Clemson since, in my opinion, the Tigers need Hall to play for 32 to 35 minutes in order to be competitive.
Duke is a 7.5-point favorite according to the early line, and the total is set at 153.5.
ESPN is set to air the game starting at 4:00 p.m.
