Shocking News: Evan Mobley’s reject Cavaliers on….
The Cleveland Cavaliers are amid a solid 2023-24 season showing despite heavy injury woes. The Cavs are 28-16 and sit fifth in the Eastern Conference standings. Evan Mobley had a solid return to action against the Los Angeles Clippers. Thus, JB Bickerstaff and Jarrett Allen sang the young big’s praises.
Mobley put up 10 points and nine rebounds in the Cavaliers’ 118-108 victory over the Clippers. It was his first time on the court since Dec. 6th, and he did not disappoint. JB Bickerstaff discussed Mobley’s return in a post-game press conference:
“You know obviously [he had] a little of bit of rust. He had some turnovers that he typically doesn’t make. But I thought he did a really good job defensively. Offensively, he found his spots…All in all, in all the team stuff we asked him to do, I thought he did great,” Bickerstaff said, per Spencer German.
Likewise, Jarrett Allen praised Mobley and was happy to have him back on the court.
“It’s so good having Evan back,” Allen told Bally Sports Cleveland. He detailed some of Mobley’s impressive rebounding and put-back plays before expressing the area the Cavs missed him most in:
“In the paint, just [everywhere] on the court. His presence and his energy is what we needed,” Allen said.
Allen’s praises come amid a breakout of his own. The 25-year-old has notched 15 straight double-doubles and has been vital to Cleveland on both sides of the ball. With Evan Mobley back, the Cavs’ interior presence looks to be even more unstoppable.
Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell was fantastic in Monday night’s game against the LA Clippers, finishing with 28 points and 12 assists in the win. Speaking with reporters after the game, Clippers star Kawhi Leonard shared his honest thoughts on Mitchell and his team’s performance. “Excellent shooter, excellent driver,” Leonard said of Mitchell. “Just getting his teammates involved overall. Just a high energy guy all game.” On this game vs. Cleveland, Leonard added, “Every game is different. There’s different schemes and different ways to attack. But I think starting with Donovan [Cleveland] did a great job. Okoro did a great job making threes, everybody. Wade made threes, Strus made timely threes as well. It was just a great team win for them.” For the Clippers, it was a disappointing loss after their dominant win over the Boston Celtics, as they got more than enough from Leonard and the bench to get a win, but the struggles of James Harden and Paul George, along with the absence of Ivica Zubac, were too much to overcome. Zubac’s absence was especially felt in this game, as Cleveland’s length was a major issue for the Clippers. All of that being said, the Clippers are still very much heading in the right direction, and will look to get back on track when they face the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night.
