Sad News: Dan Campbell just suspend by the owner for losing Super Bowl

The Detroit Lions’ feel-good story ended in tragedy after their second-half collapse at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers. Given how competitive the NFC has been, there are questions surrounding the team’s chances of getting their hands on a Lombardi trophy.

However, they aren’t the only NFL squad with long-standing playoff droughts. This piece will look into some of the squads that are starving for the chance to make and win a Super Bowl of their own.

If Dan Campbell is to be believed, it may take a bit longer before the Detroit Lions get their shot at another Lombardi trophy. The team has a championship under its belt, but that happened way back in 1957. While there are still surviving members of that championship squad, almost every Lions fan has never seen their team win anything.

Detroit fans shouldn’t lose faith, however. While they also lost their last NFC championship game 32 years ago, the team is in much better shape to make another deep playoff run next year.

The Cleveland Browns are more known for their instability at quarterback than the time they were known as the best team in football. Like the Detroit Lions, their last NFL championship predated the Super Bowl era. They haven’t been anywhere near close the Lombardi since the late ’80s.

Fortunately for the Dawg Pound, they have a brilliant head coach under Kevin Stefanski. Their QB situation is still in a flux as DeShaun Watson is not living up to the massive contract he signed two season ago.

The Houston Texans were only formed in 2002, so there’s no wonder they haven’t reached the Lombardi yet. Like the Detroit Lions, the 21st century hasn’t been kind to them, only making the playoffs seven times in their 22 years of existence.

However, the future is bright with CJ Stroud under center. The young gunslinger who is a great person on and off the field will help the Texans make it past the divisional rounds and maybe compete for a Super Bowl sooner than later.
