The Detroit Lions’ decision to sign 11 players to futures contracts showcases their investment in the future of the team. By securing these players, the Lions are not only building depth but also creating a competitive environment that fosters growth and improvement. These contracts represent a vote of confidence in these players’ abilities and their potential contribution to the team’s success. As the Lions continue to build on their recent progress, moves like these are crucial in shaping a team capable of achieving greater heights in the NFL.

The Detroit Lions, who lost in heartbreaking fashion during Sunday’s NFC Championship game have taken a leap as true contenders moving forward in the NFL.  Under Head Coach Dan Campbell, the Lions have rebranded themselves as a team that will do whatever it takes to win, even if its unconventional.

A lot of that had to do with Offensive Coordinator Ben Johnson and the offensive scheme he and quarterback Jared Goff have ran this season.  Detroit had one of the most efficient offenses this season, putting up the fifth most points in the NFL averaging 27.4 per game.

Ben Johnson had multiple head coaching offers in the off-season.  Including teams such as the Washington Commanders and Seattle Seahawks, but has decided to run it back as the OC in Detroit after losing this year’s NFC Championship.  Johnson will most likely be a hot target for head coaching positions the following season, but will be running the offense in Detroit next year.

While the Lions were not able to pull out the victory on Sunday to advance to this year’s Super Bowl, the offense kept them in the game and put up 31 points.  Detroit had the lead for majority of the game and went into the halftime locker room up 24-7, but were not able to put together complete drives in the second half.  Which helped the San Francsico 49ers climb back in and take the win.

Despite the loss, keeping Johnson for next season is massive news considering the success Detroit had on offense this year and the opportunities he had for a promotion.  The Lions will head into next season as a favorite to win the NFC North and one of the best offenses in the NFL under Johnson as Offensive Coordinator.
