Eminem is a lifelong, diehard Detroit Lions fan. The rap and hip-hop star is well aware of the Lions’ playoff futility.
The Lions haven’t won a playoff game since 1991. They get another opportunity when they host the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday in a Wild Card playoff game. Eminem is desperate for a Lions’ win to break the playoff drought. Eminem was 15 when the Lions defeated the Dallas Cowboys 38-6 in the divisional round game. That was their last playoff win. Eminem is now 5
On a video posted on social media, Eminem wants a Lions’ win so bad that he asked Rams’ quarterback Matthew Stafford – the former quarterback for the Lions – to let the Lions win.
“Stafford, what’d I say? You owe me this favor, bro,” Eminem said. “I was there for you when you won it. I was there for you. I was right there. I rapped for you, Stafford! Bro, I rapped for you! Can you just let us have this one? Just this one.”
The Lions used the No. 1 pick of the 2009 NFL draft to select Stafford. Stafford spent 12 years with the franchise before he was sent to the Rams in exchange for quarterback Jared Goff and three draft picks in 2021. When Stafford and Goff face off on Sunday, it will be the first time both starting quarterbacks will be facing their former teams at the same time in playoff history.
While Eminem and Stafford may be buddies, that friendship will be placed on hold during the game. There is no doubt Stafford will try to win the game.

Donald has been named by the Bleacher Report NFL scouting department as one of the likely trade targets for the Texans, along with New Orleans Saints cornerback Paulson Adebo and Philadelphia Eagles safety Kevin Byard.
The Los Angeles Rams lost to the Detroit Lions 23-24 in the Super Wild Card Round at Ford Field last night. One of their offensive weapons is feared to have suffered a serious knee injury.
Matthew Stafford threw an incomplete pass intended for Tyler Higbee (on his only target) in the fourth quarter. Safety Kerby Joseph buried his body into Higbee’s right knee, causing it to bend awkwardly. Higbee limped off the field and didn’t return to the game.
Higbee finished his 8th season in the NFL with 47 receptions on 70 targets for 495 yards and two receiving touchdowns.
T.J. Hockenson suffered a torn ACL and MCL on the same hit by Kerby Joseph in Week 16.
Kerby Joseph’s hit on Hockenson and Higbee has sparked a debate about whether those hits were dirty from the perspectives of the offense and defense.
The offensive perspective.
The offensive perspective would argue that Joseph’s hits on Hockenson and Higbee were dirty because he targeted their knees, causing serious injuries.
Here’s what Cris Collinsworth had to say about the injury to Higbee:“I’ve probably asked 25 receivers or tight ends one question: If you could be protected from that hit to your knees or a blow to the head, which one would you want eliminated from the game? Every single one of them said, ‘take that hit out of the game.’”
The defensive perspective would argue that Joseph’s hits on Hockenson and Higbee were not dirty because that’s how you are trained to tackle. The NFL wants defenders to tackle low to prevent concussions.
If a defender is not allowed to tackle high or low, how are they supposed to tackle?
Lions safety/defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson defended Joseph’s hit:“If anybody on the Rams feels like it was dirty, well tell his quarterback don’t put the ball in a place where he can get his player hurt.”
Joseph defended the hit on Higbee and didn’t intend to injure him. Here’s what he said about the injury on X:

ACL surgery typically takes at least nine months to recover from, meaning that Tyler Higbee will likely miss the start of the 2024 season.
Potentially losing Tyler Higbee to the start of the regular season would be a big loss for the Los Angeles Rams.
