Sad News: The Report” hurricanes are out of the Super Bowl…

Taking A Look At The List Of Most Points Scored And The Players Who Have Played In The Big Game

With the Super Bowl coming up on February 11th and two Miami Hurricanes going head-to-head with one another, it serves as a reminder that Miami remains on top of the record books.

In a tweet shared by Brett McMurphy of ActionNetworkHQ, Miami ranks as the number one school in “Most points scored in Super Bowl based on players’ last college attended” with 84 total points. Miami’s Week 1 opponent Florida comes in at number two with 82 total points.

The list of Hurricanes to contribute points in the Super Bowl includes (but not limited to) Michael Irvin (12), Devin Hester (6), Reggie Wayne (6), Frank Gore (6) and Jeremy Shockey (6).

In terms of player appearances in the Super Bowl, the Miami Hurricanes are tied for the most in the game’s history with a 126 total appearances. The players who have appeared the most with four appearances are Ted HendricksVince Wilfork and Jim Kelly (via stateoftheu.com).

As we shared in a previous article, appearances 125 and 126 will be from Chief’s safety Deon Bush and 49ers offensive lineman Jon Feliciano.

If neither of those players manage to score, Miami will retain their record as they hope to increase their points total with the influx of Hurricane talent in the league (and joining it soon).

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) — Norchad Omier scored 18 points and recorded a block with 1.8-seconds left and Miami withstood hard-charging Pittsburgh at the end to secure a key 72-68 win on Saturday.

Out of a timeout and down 70-68 with 10.3 seconds left, Pitt’s Jaland Lowe fielded the ball in the backcourt off the inbound and drove left. Omier picked him up off a screen and deflected his flailing shot attempt as he tried to draw the foul against Omier who has a four-inch height advantage over the 6-foot-3 Lowe.

Kyshawn George made two foul shots for Miami (14-6, 5-4 ACC) with 1.8 seconds left for the game’s final margin. The Hurricanes have won two straight following back-to-back losses.

Pitt’s loss ended its two-game win streak.

George’s 3-pointer with 13:20 remaining put the Hurricanes ahead 56-37. But the Panthers began their methodical return and with 4:11 left, Blake Hinson buried a 3 to reduce the Panthers’ deficit to 64-55.

Carlton Carrington made a jump shot, Lowe made a 3 followed by one from Ishmael Leggett and Lowe made two foul shots and Miami led 68-65 with 1:23 left.

Wooga Poplar’s jumper gave Miami a five-point lead before Lowe’s 3 with 46 seconds left. Poplar missed a 3 out of Pitt’s immediate timeout after Lowe’s 3 to set up the final 10 seconds.

Nigel Pack and Poplar each scored 17 points for Miami and George scored 11.

Hinson led Pitt (12-8, 3-6) with 21 points, Lowe 17 and reserve Leggett 14.

Miami capitalized on Pitt’s 1-for-10 shooting spell in the first half and went on an 11-1 run for a 25-14 lead with consecutive 3-pointers from Poplar with 8:48 before halftime.

Pitt hosts Wake Forest on Wednesday. Miami travels to North Carolina State on Tuesday.

The Hurricanes are bringing dynamic new talent to their 2024 pass rush

The Miami Hurricanes continue to receive praise for their recruiting efforts on the defensive line.

Miami’s 2024 D-line class was rated top in America by 247Sports. Defensive line coach Jason Taylor graded out as a top five recruiter in the country.

Now, Rivals credits the Hurricanes with landing two of the top five weakside defensive ends in the class.

They rank 4-Star Hurricanes signee Marquise Lightfoot number two. 4-Star Booker Pickett Jr ranks fifth. The rest of the top five featured Texas signee Colin Simmons number one, South Carolina’s Dylan Stewart third and Tennessee’s Jordan Ross fourth. This leaves Miami as the only program with multiple representatives.

Lightfoot and Pickett weren’t the only blue-chippers Miami managed to sign on the defensive line. Miami landed a pair of 5-Star prospects in Justin Scott and Armondo Blount along with 4-Stars Artavius Jones and Elias Rudolph.
