Just Now: two teams suspend by NBA during…

The main player connected with your Los Angeles Lakers this trade deadline has been Dejounte Murray of the Atlanta Hawks. The likelihood of Murray landing with the Lakers has gone up and down over recent weeks, but he is the primary target for Los Angeles.

However, other teams are looking to potentially bring the All-Star into their organization as well. One of which resides directly in the Pacific Division, the Golden State Warriors.

However, Golden State’s interest in Murray may have been overstated. The Athletic’s Anthony Slater is reporting that the interest in Murray for the Warriors is lower than originally thought, and the likelihood of Golden State making any move for him would be shocking.”Mike Dunleavy Jr. spent a chunk of time chatting with Atlanta general manager Landry Fields before a recent Hawks game. But any interest in Dejounte Murray, the No. 1 player on The Athletic’s trade deadline big board, is tepid at best, which won’t lead to movement.”

Given where Golden State is financially, they also likely won’t make a move for Murray. He is about to enter into his new contract extension that will pay him $114 million over four years.

This is good news for the Lakers amid their own attempts to land Murray. The All-Star guard would provide Los Angeles with a point-of-attack defender who can also build out his own scoring chances.

He showed out against the Lakers the other night, in what was possibly a showcase for himself. Murray scored 24 points, nine assists, four rebounds and two steals to help the Hawks take down Los Angeles.

It was a stellar performance for Murray and one that the Los Angeles front office saw up close and personal. The hope is that he can land with the Lakers and give them a much better chance to be competitive the rest of this season.

While the Golden State Warriors continue to face an uphill battle to make the playoffs, the recent emergence of Jonathan Kuminga is providing a much more positive outlook on the franchise’s short and long-term goals.

Kuminga’s recent form has been one of the most notable storylines across the league, let alone for the Warriors who’ve desperately been searching for a second star to partner Stephen Curry. The third-year forward may not be there yet, but the last few weeks would suggest he’s well on the way.

Draymond Green’s comments on Jonathan Kuminga suggest a new era is on the horizon for the Golden State Warriors

The recent numbers have been that of a star-level player. Tuesday’s 26-point outing was Kuminga’s seventh consecutive 20-point game, with the 21-year-old averaging 25.1 points over that stretch. Kuminga joins two-time MVP Nikola Jokic as the only two players in the league to average 25 points on 60% shooting since January 12.

After an inconsistent first couple seasons, Kuminga is coming into his own as a dominant player. His stature around the league is growing, and his standing at the franchise was perfectly illustrated by a comment from Draymond Green after Tuesday’s win.
