ATLANTA — Less than a week after hiring their head coach, the Atlanta Falcons  finalized their coordinators — with a heavy Los Angeles Rams flair.

The Falcons announced former Rams assistant head coach Jimmy Lake as their defensive coordinator Monday, joining new offensive coordinator Zac Robinson, who also came over from the Rams, where he was quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator.

Raheem Morris, the new head coach of the Falcons, will be their new coach once again. Morris was the defensive coordinator for the Rams from 2021 until being hired last week.

Lake spent six seasons as an assistant coach, including two seasons as defensive coordinator in 2018–19, before taking over as head coach at the University of Washington in 2020–2021.

Lake has coached defensive backs for the Detroit Lions and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFL. Morris and Lake collaborated in Tampa Bay.

On Monday, Marquice Williams, the coordinator of special teams, was also formally declared to be staying with the Falcons.

According to sources who spoke with ESPN, the team also intends to keep offensive line coach Dwayne Ledford and running backs coach Michael Pitre from the previous coaching staff.

2024 NFL Honors: Who won the league’s biggest awards?

The NFL Honors took place at the Resorts World Theatre on Thursday night, just in front of Super Bowl LVIII (Sunday, 6:30 p.m. ET, CBS), which features the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers.

Lamar Jackson, the quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, is the favorite to earn his second MVP trophy after taking home the trophy after the 2019 campaign.

Christian McCaffrey, a standout running back for San Francisco, has won Offensive Player of the Year thus far. Offensive Rookie of the Year went to rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud of the Houston Texans. Myles Garrett, a defensive end for the Cleveland Browns, took home his first Defensive Player of the Year title. Defensive Rookie of the Year went to Will Anderson Jr., a defensive end for the Texans. Kevin Stefanski, the head coach of the Browns, was elected

The greatest players in the NFL met at the Resorts World Theatre on Thursday night for the NFL Honors, which took place before the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers play in Super Bowl LVIII (Sunday, 6:30 p.m. ET, CBS).

Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens, who won the MVP title after the 2019 season, is the favorite to win it again.

Offensive Player of the Year has so far gone to Christian McCaffrey, a great running back for San Francisco. Offensive Rookie of the Year went to C.J. Stroud, a rookie quarterback for the Houston Texans. Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns, a defensive end, took home his first Defensive Player of the Year honor. Defensive Rookie of the Year went to Texans defensive end Will Anderson Jr. Also, Kevin Stefanski, the head coach of the Browns, was chosen

In his first full season with the Niners, McCaffrey delivered one of the most productive seasons in franchise and league history. He led the NFL in scrimmage yards per game (126.4), scrimmage touchdowns (21), rushing yards (1,459), first downs (114) and 10-plus yard runs (44) while playing 16 games.

Those numbers were enough to earn McCaffrey a Pro Bowl berth and first-team AP All Pro honors as he also added his name to the NFL record books. McCaffrey boosted his total career games with a rushing and receiving score in the same game to 15, tied with Marshall Faulk for the most in league history, and became the third player in NFL history to post more than 2,000 scrimmage yards in a season for two different franchises.

“Everyone has those gym rats who just work so hard. … We got a guy like that, who’s also one of the most talented people in the league,” Niners coach Kyle Shanahan said. — Nick Wagoner

Garrett finally overcame his early disappointment to win his first NFL Defensive Player of the Year title, having been a contender for several years.

As soon as Anderson joined the Texans, he wanted to establish the expectation that the rookies will “change the culture.” When he recorded a sack of Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson in Week 1, he had an instant effect.

His sack totals decreased, but he was still in the upper echelons of advanced analytics. In terms of pass rush victory percentage (25.8%), the No. 3 choice was rated third. Among defensive ends with at least 400 snaps, he was sixth in run-stop victory rate (36%), which had an effect on the run game as well.

Since joining the NFL again in 1999, the Browns have only made three trips to the postseason. Stefanski was the head coach for two of those, winning Coach of the Year in both (2020 included).

Despite a challenging regular season, Stefanski led Cleveland to an 11-6 record. Numerous important players for the Browns sustained season-ending injuries, including running back Nick Chubb (knee) and quarterback Deshaun Watson (shoulder).

Cleveland also made history by being the first team to start five different quarterbacks in a single season since 1987. Nevertheless, the five times the Browns scored a winning touchdown in the last two minutes of regulation, they set a franchise record.

Andrew Berry, general manager, stated, “That starts with Kevin.” “His leadership and managerial style was exceptional.”
