Analyst Makes An Alarming Statement About Russell Wilson’s Future

Russell Wilson - Denver Broncos Quarterback - ESPN

The Denver Broncos took a big swing when they traded for Russell Wilson.

Wilson has been a great quarterback throughout his NFL tenure, and at times, has been a part of the MVP conversation.

He is also a Super Bowl champion, and the team believed his history of winning could help out the organization.

However, his first two seasons with the team haven’t yielded the results either party was hoping for, which has started a frenzy of rumors about Wilson, with many believing the team could move on from him in the offseason.

Tim Hasselbeck took this a step further in a recent segment of ‘Get Up,’ where he indicated that Wilson might be out of the league next year.

Odds Russell Wilson will play for the Broncos in 2024

“I think there’s a chance Russell Wilson is out of football,” Hasselbeck said.

Hasselbeck believes that things might have gotten so bad for Wilson in the NFL that he could have no choice but to retire.

If that is the case, the Broncos will once again be without a marquee starting QB and will be in the market for someone new.

Unfortunately for the Broncos, they have so much money tied up in Wilson, that they will likely be unable to sign a high-caliber option.

According to Spotrac’s analysis of Wilson’s contract, he has a cap hit of $35.4 million this year, and $55.4 million next year

The team does have an out ahead of the 2026 season, but he is at least owed more than $80 million over the next two years.

Not an ideal situation for a team that has faced its share of struggles for several years.

Broncos Officially Announce Pete Carmichael Hire as Senior Assistant

This news should come as no surprise to anyone that former Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael is officially joining Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos.

Pete Carmichael was the offensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints for 15 seasons. Thirteen of those seasons came under former Saints head coach Sean Payton, who just finished his first year as the head coach for the Broncos.

Carmichael will have a slightly different role in Denver: a senior offensive assistant. The 52-year-old will be a piece of offensive staff under OC Joe Lombardi.

Although Carmichael received a fair portion of criticism over the past two seasons, he is one of the most experienced offensive coordinators in the NFL. He has also coached many of the players that now call Denver (A.K.A. New Orleans West) their home team such as Adam Trautman, Lucas Krull, Dwayne Washington, and Will Lutz.

Carmichael could be an interesting addition to an offensive staff that struggled to properly utilize quarterback Russell Wilson and wide receiver Jerry Jeudy last season.
