Shocking News” Just Now: The Owner Of Detroit Lions” Sheila Ford Hamp” Return As A Head Coach….

The Detroit Lions are coming off of one of their best seasons in franchise history after making it to the NFC Championship game. With their high-powered offense and tons of young talent, the future looks bright for the team going forward. However, the Detroit defense struggles once again this season ranking in the lower half of the league overall, which ended up being their kryptonite all season long. The team has been linked to a star defender from the Los Angeles Chargers, who could join a new squad as soon as this offseason.

The Lions are linked to Chargers superstar pass rusher Khalil Mack, who is set to likely be traded by Los Angeles this offseason. Mack has been one of the best pass rushers the game has ever seen, which would bolster the struggling Lions’ defense if he gets signed. With his career coming into the final stretch, Mack could be looking for a team with a “win now” mantra, and Detroit seems like a good fit.

The Baltimore Ravens have a ton of pending free agents to address when the new league year starts March 13, one of which is star wideout Odell Beckham Jr. Will the Ravens re-sign Beckham after a $16 million payday last year that seems like a terrible overpayment? Or will they attempt to replace him through the draft or free agency?

Bleacher Report threw out the possibility that another free agent could replace OBJ in Baltimore, and he just played in the NFC Championship game this past season. Former Texas A&M Aggies wideout Josh Reynolds is one of the more overlooked pending free agents according to B/R, and might be a good fit in Baltimore to complement quarterback Lamar Jackson and soon-to-be second-year receiver Zay Flowers.

“At 6’3″ and 194 pounds, Reynolds has the length to grab deep balls over defenders, and he used that advantage to average 15.2 yards per reception with the Detroit Lions this season,” B/R wrote. “With Jameson Williams suspended for the first few games of the season, Reynolds emerged as the primary deep threat for an explosive Lions offense. “Reynolds has never been a leading man, but he’s been a successful contributor on multiple strong offenses, including the last two seasons with the Lions and the Los Angeles Rams from 2018-2020. “He’s the kind of signing that will probably be a minor blip in the news cycle in the spring but will play a crucial role for a team contending for the playoffs.”

Ben Johnson apparently shrugged off Commanders’ ownership as ‘basketball guys’, which may be where the subsequent media slander of him had its roots.

Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson was the front runner to be the next Washington Commanders’ head coach, until he wasn’t as ESPN’s Adam Schefter put a kibosh on that.

Then Johnson took himself out of the running for the remaining head coaching openings after the Lions’ loss in the NFC Championship. The Commanders followed with a concerted effort to slander Johnson through the media, with Schefter and others as their water carriers.

Johnson’s side of the story sort of came out in his defense, with ESPN’s Jenna Laine (who covers the Buccaneers) reporting that Johnson was “turned off” by Commanders’ ownership.

According to Laine Johnson called Washington’s ownership, fairly or not, “basketball guys” who were “a little too confident in their football opinions.”

New Commanders’ owners Josh Harris also owns the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers, so he fits the bill as a “basketball guy”. Former Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers was also part of an advisory committee Harris put together to find new organizational leadership, and he definitely fits the “basketball guy” bill.

The top ‘basketball guy’ in Commanders’ ownership that Ben Johnson seemed to call out may be obvious

The Las Vegas Raiders had Kliff Kingsbury as their new offensive coordinator. Until they didn’t, and he took the same post with the Commanders. It’s been out there that Kingsbury’s contract with Washington has one more year on it then his deal with the Raiders would have, which is an understandable reason to quickly pivot before being locked into anything.

On Feb. 5, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Magic Johnson, who is a Commanders’ minority owner, had convinced Kingsbury that Washington was a better fit for him. Kingsbury of course won’t acknowledge that, but Raiders’ head coach Antonio Pierce did.
