You Are The Worse Coach I Ever Met’Star Player Disparaging The  Indianapolis Colts Head Coach “Shane Steichen”.

INDIANAPOLIS — Shane Steichen couldn’t pull himself away. The day of his introductory news conference last year as the Indianapolis Colts new head coach, the former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator rewatched his team’s loss in the Super Bowl. The sting of the defeat was still fresh, but before Steichen could begin a new chapter, he had to close the last, bittersweet one.

“I’m not gonna lie. I turned it on about an hour ago and watched the first quarter,” Steichen said during the news conference. “Just to look at it, just to be in that moment and know how hard it is to get there.”

That stage, and the steps it took to reach it, prepared Steichen for what he would inherit in Indianapolis. A franchise that once seemed synonymous with winning during the Peyton Manning era and the Andrew Luck years was spiraling. It needed a new direction from a new leader.

Steichen provided it.

Rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson sustained a season-ending shoulder injury in Week 5; starting nose tackle Grover Stewart was suspended six games for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug policy; and star running back Jonathan Taylor missed seven games due to ankle and thumb injuries. But Steichen’s meticulous drive and adaptability helped lift the team from a 4-12-1 finish in 2022 to a 9-8 record in 2023, falling one win short of the playoffs.

“He’s a problem-solver,” general manager Chris Ballard said of Steichen at the NFL Scouting Combine. “There are going to be weeks — and this is across the league, I don’t care if you’re the Kansas City Chiefs or anybody else — you’re going to have problems and you have to be able to solve them. To watch him solve the problems this year and grow in that area was really fun.”

Indianapolis Colts General Manager Chris Ballard and Head Coach Shane Steichen will be available to the media during the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine on Wednesday, February 28. Ballard will take the podium at 1:30 p.m. followed by Steichen at 3:30 p.m.

The press conferences will be streamed live on Colts.com, the Colts mobile app (available in the App Store and Google Play), @Colts on X and Colts Facebook page.

Following the live streams the full press conferences will be available on-demand on Colts.com and the Colts mobile app.

Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen shares his thoughts on the team and staff around him.

The 2023 season may be over for the Indianapolis Colts, but there are plenty of positives to take away from it.

First-year head coach Shane Steichen squeezed out nine wins despite injuries and inexperienced players on his Indy roster.

Ultimately, those nine wins weren’t enough to win the AFC South or make the postseason. But given that the previous year before Steichen’s arrival the Colts had four wins, this is a massive improvement.
